Chandigarh couple held with 103g heroin
In a crackdown on drug peddlers, the Chandigarh Police arrested a couple Friday night for possessing 103gm heroin. The police arrested Sahil, 26, who has a previous criminal background, and his wife Samta alias Sano, 19, from near Bapu Dham Colony in Sector 26. The couple hails from Dainik Bhaskar Colony, Sector 25.
Police said that Sahil had earlier been arrested in a drug peddling case besides two cases of assaults. He was currently out on bail in the three cases. A police officer said the couple was intercepted by a team of Operations Cell.
“The two were walking towards Bapu Dham Colony in a suspicious manner and upon being asked to stop they first introduced themselves with wrong names. On frisking, the police recovered 103gm heroin from their possession,” said an officer. The police said 85gm of stuff was found with Sahil and the remaining 18gm was with Samta.
The couple was remanded in one-day police custody. A case was registered at Sector 26 police station. Last week, three men were arrested for supplying heroin to customers on the pattern of home delivery.
