Firing in Punjab’s Khanna: Bike borne miscreants open fire on four youths, one held


Tension gripped Khanna town of Punjab’s Ludhiana district on Sunday night after two bike-borne miscreants open fired on four youths who were in a car. The incident happened on Amloh road and the accused also attacked youths in the car with sharp edged weapons. Of the four youths, two received bullet injuries.

Khanna Police said that old rivalry was suspected to be the reason behind the clash. The accused were identified as Chahatpreet Singh of Model Town Khanna, Dildeep Singh of Bullepur, Manga of Khanna and Lember Singh of Bullepur, said Khanna SSP Amneet Kondal.

She added that an FIR has been registered under sections 307, 323, 324, 427, 506 and 34 of IPC and other sections of Arms Act at Khanna City-2 police station and Lember Singh has been arrested. “Raids are on to arrest three others,” she said.

Police said that Ashu of Krishna Nagar along with his friends Jasvir Singh alias Jassi, Sameer Bahadur and Sajan were going to have dinner. They were traveling in Ashu’s car. According to Sameer’s statement to police on the basis of which FIR was registered, one of the accused identified as Manga reached there on a bike and intercepted their car. According to Sameer, then three others including Chahatpreet Singh, Deep and another unidentified accomplice also reached there with weapons in their hands, and they opened fire.
Ashu was referred to GMCH-32 Chandigarh sensing his serious condition, said police.
