A woman in her sixties died of cardiac arrest allegedly during an “illegal raid” by a liquor contractor and his aides at her house in Punjab’s Ludhiana district. The Ludhiana Rural police registered an FIR in this regard on Sunday.
The police identified the victim as Kartaro Bai of Abbupura village in Sidhwan Bet. The first information report (FIR) was filed based on a statement by the victim’s son Joginder Singh alias Kala. According to Kala, liquor contractor Inderjit Singh suspected that his mother stored and supplied illicit liquor.
He added that on Saturday, Inderjit and his aides barged into her house and started threatening and accusing her of illicit liquor smuggling. When his mother tried to leave the house, the accused prevented her from doing so.
Meanwhile, his mother suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed. Kala added that he rushed her to a hospital where the doctors declared her dead.
The police have booked Inderjit Singh, his aides Vijay Kumar alias Laddu, Bunty, Kuljeet Singh alias Geetu, Rajiv Singh alias Bablu and Jarnail Singh alias Nikka under sections 304A (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sidhwan Bet police station.
