Mohali: Five, including woman, booked for stealing gold, cash from family
Balongi police on Tuesday booked five people, including a woman, for allegedly stealing gold and cash from a Mohali-based family. The police said that the woman named in the complaint has also stolen jewellery from the house of her in-laws within a month of getting married and fled.
As per details, the complainant in the case, one Mandeep Rana, a resident of Behlolpur village, has told the police that he got married one Vishakha on February 10 this year. On March 4, however, Vishakha drugged his entire family and fled with some gold jewellery and cash that was kept in the house.
Mandeep further said that on May 2 he lodged a complaint with the police following which an inquiry was conducted by Balongi Station House Officer (SHO) and the SP (H) recommended registration of a case against all the accused.
A case under sections 380 (theft in a dwelling house) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against Vishakha, her friend Vishal Chauhan, and Arun Kumar, Varinder Sharma and Manoj Kumar at Balongi police station.
